What Is the Jio Platforms IPO?

The Jio Platforms IPO is the first public share sale by Jio Platforms Ltd, the digital arm of Reliance Industries. The company is issuing up to 27 crore fresh shares and will list on NSE and BSE. Most of the money will repay debt owed by its telecom unit, Reliance Jio Infocomm.

An IPO, or initial public offering, is when a private company sells shares to the public for the first time. Jio Platforms owns Reliance Jio Infocomm, the company behind Jio SIM cards and JioFiber broadband. That unit had 524.4 million subscribers on 31 March 2026.

Reliance Industries (RIL) holds about 66.43% of Jio Platforms. Meta and Google together hold about 17.71%. Akash Ambani is the managing director.

What Are the Jio IPO Dates?

An anchor investor is a large institution that buys shares a day before the IPO opens. Basis of allotment is the step where the registrar decides who gets shares.

What Is the Jio IPO Price Band?

The Jio IPO price band is ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share, with a face value of ₹10. One lot has 12 shares, so the minimum bid is ₹13,428 at the upper price. Retail investors can bid for up to 14 lots, which is ₹1,87,992.

A price band is the range in which you can place your bid. The final issue price is fixed after bidding ends, and it cannot go above ₹1,119.

Maximum retail bid (14 lots)₹1,78,920₹1,87,992

The final issue size is lower than the ₹37,700 crore estimate that circulated in August. Jio is not selling any existing shares. Every rupee raised goes to the company.

What Is the Jio IPO Subscription Status Today?

The Jio IPO was subscribed 1.03 times by 10:41 AM on Day 1. Institutional investors led with 3.25 times, while retail and non-institutional portions were subscribed about 0.25 times each. These numbers update through the day, so check the live tracker before you decide.

Subscription shows how many times investors have bid for the shares on offer. A figure of 1x means bids equal the shares available. Anything above 1x means the issue is oversubscribed.

Retail and NII numbers often climb on the last day of big IPOs. For live updates, check the Jio Platforms IPO subscription status and GMP page on Chittorgarh, an Indian website that tracks IPO dates, subscription, GMP and allotment.

What Is the Jio IPO GMP Today?

Jio IPO GMP today is about ₹265 per share, or roughly 23.7% above the upper price band of ₹1,119. That points to an indicative listing price near ₹1,384. GMP is an unofficial grey market signal, so it can rise or fall quickly and never guarantees listing gains.

GMP stands for Grey Market Premium. It is the extra amount at which IPO shares trade unofficially before listing. SEBI, India’s market regulator, does not control this market.

Who Is Eligible for the Jio IPO Shareholder Quota?

Individuals and HUFs who held at least one Reliance Industries share in their demat account on 14 October 2026 are eligible. That was the date Jio filed its RHP. Buying RIL shares now will not qualify you. The quota covers up to ₹2,500 crore, with a ₹2 lakh bid limit.

An HUF is a Hindu Undivided Family. A demat account holds your shares in electronic form. The RHP, or Red Herring Prospectus, is the final offer document filed before the IPO opens.

Here is what to know about the shareholder category:

  • No automatic shares: RIL shareholders do not receive Jio shares for free. You must place a bid.
  • Choose the right category: Select “RIL Shareholder” in your broker app while applying.
  • Bid limit: You can bid up to ₹2 lakh in this category.
  • Double chance: Broker guides say eligible investors can also apply in the retail category with the same PAN. Confirm this in the RHP.
  • Spillover: If the shareholder portion is not filled, the leftover shares go to employees and then to other public categories.

Here is how the full issue is split:

CategoryShare of the issue
QIBUp to 50% of the net issue
Retail investorsAt least 35% of the net issue
NIIAt least 15% of the net issue
RIL shareholdersReservation of up to ₹2,500 crore
Eligible employeesReservation of up to ₹500 crore

What Is the Jio IPO Last Date to Apply?

The last date to apply for the Jio IPO is Friday, 23 October 2026. Bidding stays open for three days, starting 21 October. Apply through your broker app using UPI or ASBA. Do not wait for the final hours, because UPI mandate approval and bank limits can cause last-minute failures.

UPI is the payment system that sends a bid request to your phone. ASBA means Applications Supported by Blocked Amount. Your money stays in your bank account and is only blocked until allotment.

Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Open your broker app and go to the IPO section.
  2. Select Jio Platforms from the list of open issues.
  3. Choose your category: Retail or RIL Shareholder.
  4. Enter the number of lots and bid at the cut-off price or your chosen price.
  5. Enter your UPI ID and approve the mandate request in your UPI app.

You need a demat account and a UPI-linked bank account. After allotment on 26 October, you can check your status on the website of KFin Technologies, the IPO registrar, or on the BSE and NSE sites. Use your PAN or application number.

Is the Jio Platforms IPO a Buy or Not?

Most brokerages have a “subscribe” view for long-term investors, citing Jio’s huge user base and steady profit growth. But valuation is debated, and most proceeds go to debt repayment. This is general information, not advice. Match your decision to your risk comfort, time horizon, and a careful read of the RHP.

Here is what supports the issue:

  • Market leader: Jio had 524.4 million subscribers as of 31 March 2026.
  • Growing profit: Profit after tax rose 15.14% to ₹30,064.30 crore in FY26. In Q1 FY27, profit was ₹7,764.10 crore against ₹7,110.10 crore a year earlier.
  • Strong institutional demand: The ₹8,110 crore anchor book reportedly drew bids above ₹2.5 lakh crore, over 30 times the amount on offer. LIC and the Government of Singapore were among the buyers. Business Today’s report on the Jio IPO anchor book and brokerage views has more detail.
  • Positive grey market: GMP of about 24% hints at strong sentiment.

Here is what to think about before you bid:

  • Use of funds: Up to ₹27,500 crore goes to repay debt of Reliance Jio Infocomm. Very little is left for new growth projects.
  • Valuation: At the upper band, Jio is valued at about ₹10.3 lakh crore. One brokerage puts the price-to-earnings multiple at 33.3 times.
  • Soft early retail demand: Retail was only about 0.25x on Day 1 morning.
  • Small free float: The fresh issue is only about 2.9% of the equity base after the IPO.
  • Allotment odds: If the issue is heavily oversubscribed, many retail applicants will get no shares.

FAQs About the Jio IPO

Is the Jio IPO fully subscribed?

Yes, overall. It crossed 1x by 10:41 AM on Day 1, at 1.03 times. Institutional investors drove that demand. Retail and NII portions were still below 1x at that time, so check the live numbers.

What is the minimum investment in the Jio IPO?

The minimum bid is one lot of 12 shares. That costs ₹13,428 at the upper price band of ₹1,119, or ₹12,780 at the lower end. Retail investors can bid up to ₹1,87,992.

When will Jio IPO allotment and listing happen?

Allotment is expected on 26 October 2026. Refunds and share credit follow on 27 October. The shares are likely to list on NSE and BSE on 28 October 2026.

Is the Jio IPO GMP reliable?

No. GMP comes from unofficial grey market deals that no regulator controls. It shows mood, not a promise. Listing day prices can land well above or below the GMP, so never bid on GMP alone.

Is the Jio IPO a fresh issue or an offer for sale?

It is a 100% fresh issue of up to 27 crore shares. No existing shareholder is selling. Up to ₹27,500 crore of the proceeds will repay borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm.

Conclusion

The Jio IPO runs from 21 to 23 October 2026 at ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share. One lot of 12 shares costs ₹13,428 at the top of the band. GMP sits near ₹265, but it is unofficial and can change fast.

Day 1 demand came mainly from institutions. Only RIL shareholders who held shares on 14 October can use the shareholder quota. Allotment is due on 26 October, and listing is expected on 28 October.
